The reason for this is really quite simple: carbs are digested and turned into glucose, or sugar.
When you consistently eat a lot of carbs, you end up having a lot of sugar in your body. If you always have a lot of sugar in your body, then you have chronically high blood sugar. And when you have chronically high blood sugar, you can inevitably develop prediabetes, and eventually diabetes.
Fortunately, the opposite is also true.
