5 Fruits To AVOID For Type 2 Diabetics

What fruits should you avoid if you have type 2 diabetes?

Fruits are great. They're natural, delicious, and for the most part, healthy!

But if you have type 2 diabetes you do need to be careful about which fruits are part of your typical everyday diet.

Below is a list of fruits that belong on the do not eat list for anybody with type two diabetes.

1. Bananas

While convenient and delicious, bananas are unfortunately very high in carbs and therefore not appropriate for anyone looking to follow a low-carb diet.

2. Dried Fruits

Dried fruits contain a ton of sugar that can cause pretty significant spikes to blood sugar levels. If you're looking to keep blood sugar stable, it's best to avoid these sugary treats.

3. Pineapple

This tropical delicacy is quite high on the glycemic index, making it a no-go for anyone with type 2 diabetes.

4. Grapes

One grape contains roughly one full gram of carbs. If you're trying to reduce the amount of carbs in your diet, you'll definitely want to steer clear of grapes.

5. Dates

While tasty, dates pack a ton of sugar and aren't appropriate if you're looking to reduce blood sugar levels and A1C

To Conclude

Fruits are delicious and can certainly be part of a healthy diet, even if you're living with diabetes. The trick is to be smart about which fruits you're eating. If it has a lot of carbohydrates, or is high in sugar, it's probably best to avoid it.
